Help

We've tried to keep the user interface of our white pages as simple as possible. But there are still a few things you may find confusing in how it operates.

The data in our online white pages is drawn from our customer information system from information originally supplied by our customers. The web site information is normally updated no more than once a day, so that means that there may be a delay in the details for new or changed entries showing up. Also with the information originally coming from our customers it may not match what you expect to find. Some of our customers have multiple listings just to help you find them.

Most of the personal entries are shown surname first followed by an initial. However there are a lot of entries where this is not the case. When searching for personal entries try just using the surname on its own.

There are certain entries we don't show. These include:

  • Entries where the customer has explicitly asked for them to be excluded,
  • Cardphone entries (unless you actually search for 'Cardphone'),
  • Some individual mobile phone numbers (unless the person has multiple mobile numbers, or the mobile is listed under a business),
  • Some business entries (unless the business has paid for the extra listings).

For a search to go ahead you must enter at least two characters. If you only enter two or three characters then the search will be restricted to entries that begin with those two or three characters. If you enter four or more characters then the search will look for those characters anywhere within the listing. If you enter six or more characters then you can also do a 'sounds like' search.

Hints

If you really can't find an entry you're sure should be there. Try a shorter search for short names (less than six characters) or a 'sounds like' search for longer names (more than six characters).

For personal entries enter the surname first followed by an initial. However, it is even better to just enter the surname on its own.

Enter as many characters in the name as you can. You're more likely to get just the entries you want.

Try again later. If a search is taking too long this website won't wait forever for it to come back. But the search results may still get cached waiting for the next query. Try the same search again in a minute or two.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use wildcards - like * or % in my search?
No. However wildcard characters are automatically added to the beginning and end of your search clause anyway.

Can I just get all the listings in one go?
No. We suggest you get a copy of the Solomon Islands printed white pages if you need that.

I want to get all listings starting with 'a', but it keeps on telling me "Sorry, no results were returned. Please check your search criteria", why?
You need to enter at least two characters before a search goes ahead.

I want to find all the entries that have 'com' in the middle. How do I do that?
If you enter only two or three characters the search is restricted to only those listings that start with the characters you entered. Try adding an extra character or two to your search and it will find matches that turn up anywhere within the listings.

Why is it that when I enter the name exactly as it is in the phone book nothing shows up unless I do a 'sounds like' search?
Many of the entries in the customer information system are not exactly as shown in the printed white pages. For personal entries you'll generally be more successful entering just the surname on its own. For company listings avoid using words like 'corporation', 'enterprises', 'company', etc. in your search.

I did a search but it shows me nothing. Why?
There may be some text next to your search criteria advising you that the search couldn't be completed or didn't return any data. However, if that text isn't present then that means that the only numbers returned were for listings that are not going to be presented.

Why don't I get anything when I do a 'sounds like' search for 'epi'
A 'sounds like' search requires at least six characters before it will actually do a 'sounds like' search, anything less than six characters and it just does an ordinary search.

Why does a 'sounds like' search sometimes return entries that don't even 'sound like' what I searched for?
This is because the 'sounds like' search will always try and return at least 3 results. To get at least 3 results it will sometimes return entries that only have a very vague resemblance to what you searched for.

How do I get the email address for one of your customers?
So our customers don't get spammed we've hidden the email addresses on this site. You can use the link shown to send them an email (and ask them to reply to you) or you can try looking up their entry in the printed white pages.

I sent an email but I got no reply. Why?
Unfortunately if our customers aren't checking their emails or they've changed their email address and haven't informed us, we can't do much to help. You can try sending them another email or, if it's really urgent, we suggest calling them using the listed phone number.

Your email link is busted - it only worked the first time. Every other time the text in the middle just changes to "Your email could not be sent. Please close this window.". Why don't you fix it?
So our customers don't get spammed the email link is set up to work once only. Once an email link is used you have to do a fresh search to get a fresh email link. How about asking our customer to reply to your email so you can get their email address that way.

How come the website link on the listing didn't work?
Most likely because our customers website is down or their URL (web address) has changed. Please contact them directly for further assistance.

How do I get my listing changed?
Come in to one of Telekom's sales offices and ask for the listing to be updated. Please remember to bring suitable identification or an acceptable authorisation (for business or government listings). You'll need to allow at least 48 hours for the changes to show up.

I've noticed one of the listings is wrong. How do I report it?
If it's your listing see the question above, if it's not your listing you should report it directly to person or organisation involved.

It's freezing cold where I live and my life sucks what should I do?
You probably need a tropical island holiday please contact the Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau for assistance.
